Red wine meets tiki via the musical stylings of Looking Glass. I had the kind of dumb idea to make a tiki drink inspired by Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl) by Looking Glass. I remembered one specific lyric: “They say, ‘Brandy, fetch another round.’ She serves them whiskey and wine.” Obviously, I had my main spirits down, but I wanted to try having red wine as the main ingredient, which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. The result is much better than I ever thought possible. The berry notes of the wine mingle fantastically with the citrus and pineapple, and the oaky flavors of the rye and brandy work well alongside the wine tannin. Underneath that is a great blend of spices, almond, and maple from the syrups and bitters as well as the signature “spicy” rye finish. Overall, the drink is tart, sweet, and refreshing with an unorthodox blend of flavors and a creamy mouthfeel from the shaken wine and pineapple. I hope you enjoy it!
