Can I teach a Clown to make The Joker Cocktail???
For our run up to Halloween I endeavor to answer a simple question: Can I teach A real life clown, with no cocktail or bartending experience to make a complicated cocktail? Well, it just so happens that I know a clown so we decided to find out. I was stoked to partner with my good friend Richie The Barber, a real life clown barber, artist, personality and all around swell Guy! Yes, his face is tattooed. There, I said it. Now you know.
In celebration of both Halloween and the new Joaquin Phoenix movie, I wanted to try my hand at a Joker inspired drink, so when the idea for this video hit, I scoured the internet to see what was out there as far as Joker drinks, as I was sure there had to be one. And of course there are several, they just didn’t really hit the right tone. Most of them are inspired by the Joker in Suicide Squad, who is scary, yes, but more polished. It seemed as if the producers were trying to update the Joker into a character that would appeal to Younger audiences. But in the new movie the Joker is grimier and much darker. The film draws on inspiration from the grittiness and depression on 1970’s New York, calling on influences from Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy and The Machinist. Since I wasn’t reconstructing a drink from the movie it needed to evoke the essence of the movie; dark, menacing and of course the signature Joker colors of Green and Purple. I also wanted to put a seasonal spin on it and work with some mulling spices since we are in that season of course! I hope I did not disappoint and I hope that at least some of you try and make the drink! So Kick back, relax and enjoy the Joker!
