Screwballs of Fire

One of my favorite dishes to cook uses peanuts and serrano peppers. The combination of spice and sweet nutty flavors works so well in the dish, I wanted to see if the combination translated well to cocktails. I was pleased with the result!!

Servings 1 cocktail

Ingredients
 

  • 1 oz Screwball peanut butter whiskey
  • 1 oz Bulleit Bourbon
  • 1/2 tsp Honey Syrup
  • 2 Angostura Bitters
  • 1-2 dashes Hella Bitters: Smoked Chili bitters depending on how spicy you want it; 2 was plenty for me
  • 2 Serrano peppers

Instructions
 

  • Slice up one serrano pepper into chunks, removing any seeds.
  • Add cut up serrano pepper, honey syrup, and bitters to mixing glass.
  • Muddle pepper into syrup and bitters to release flavor.
  • Add Screwball and bourbon whiskies.
  • Add ice to mixing glass.
  • Stir until properly chilled.
  • Add large ice cube to and old fashioned glass.
  • Double strain into old fashioned glass.
  • Garnish with the other serrano pepper.
  • Enjoy!
