Sam’s Sleigh Ride

A Very Satisfying Recreation of a Seasonal Sipper from Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Room.

When you step into Trader Sam’s it’s easy to see why everybody loves it so much. It is as much a show as it is a Tiki bar and really plays the more kitschy end of Tiki to the hilt. Certain drinks trigger animatronics around the bar and the bartenders double as actors playing out the story of Trader Sam, all of it done with the participation of the patrons. I for one LOVE IT, and I’m not the craziest of all Disney people either. The drinks are made to appeal to the widest variety of people so you’re not going to find the most culinary of approaches and most cheat on the sweet side but they are good enough to enjoy and want to drink a few. This is the kickoff to a series of videos I’ve been meaning to get around to and I want to say as a bit of a disclaimer that I am reconstructing these drinks to suit myself. I try and make them more balanced while still keeping the original intention in mind and I am also upping the quality of some spirits used in each drink. So these will differ slightly from what you will find at Trader Sams if you go there.

Trader Sam’s is located in the gardens around the Disneyland Hotel which is the hotel imbued with the history of Disneyland itself. The bar follows the storyline of Trader Sam a character introduced in the Jungle Boat Ride in the Adventureland section of the park who is supposedly the Head Salesman of the Jungle Cruise Navigational Company which explains all of the tiki memorabilia around the bar. It is a fun experience for sure and if you want to read an amazing article on it’s history here.

  1. Would Barsmith Moscow Mule Mix be a good substitute for the honey and ginger syrups?
Also, is the honey syrup a replacement for the original Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey version?
