The flavor profile of this drink bring the sipper back in time to an era of traditional citrus and agave-based remedies passed through generations; hence the name. The cherry symbolizes the sweet treat usually given to kids “willing” to take their medicine without making a ruckus of it.
Ingredients
- 1 oz Mezcal
- 1 oz Rye Whiskey
- 1/2 oz Chile Liqueur Red Ancho Reyes
- 1/2 oz Lemon Juice or Lime Juice
- 1/2 oz Orgeat
- 1/4 oz Coffee Liqueur Kahlua, Mint Mocha if available
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters
- 1 dash Orange Bitters Regans' No. 6 Orange Bitters
- 1 dash Walnut Bitters Fee Brothers Black Walnut BItters
Garnish
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a mixing tin.
- Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
- Place garnish on the bottom of a small snifter.
- Strain with a Hawthorne strainer (no double strain; ice shards are recommended for this drink).
- Enjoy!
