A very satisfying modern Tiki drink featuring Norwegian Aquavit
If you have been following our stories on Instagram you’ll know that Marius and I just completed a trip to San Francisco and while there, one of the must stop and have a drink at bars is Smuggler’s Cove. Smuggler’s Cove was created by Rum and exotic drink expert Martin Cate who is a passionate rum collector and educator. He is the co-owner of several bars including Whitechapel in San Francisco, Hale Pele in Portland, False Idol in San Diego and is one of the partners in Lost Lake in Chicago, that other award winning tiki bar everyone makes a big deal about these days. Smuggler’s Cove features the largest Rum collection in the United States and a cocktail list that spans several centuries of rum history. If it isn’t on your list of bars to visit, it should be, period.
I chose this drink as a tip of the hat to Marius’ Norwegian heritage which we mention at least twice a week and also to the ravenous appetite for Tiki drinks you guys have displayed. I’ve also been getting really deep in Rum and Rum history and tiki drinks of late as most of my career was spent obsessing over Gin and Whiskey and now I have moved on to Rum which I have found a new passion for. Ok. Enough Talk. More drinking. Go make this one and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
