A very pleasing coffee forward tropical libation!
The Kona Swizzle was created by bartender Travis Brown who runs the cocktail program over at Fox Liquor Bar in Raleigh North Carolina.
Fox Liquor Bar is an unassuming joint in the basement of a building which used to be a Piggly Wiggly.
If you don’t know what a Piggly Wiggly is, let me educate you. It’s America’s first self serve grocery store first founded in Memphis Tennessee in 1916 by a guy named Clarence Saunders. See, at the time, shoppers would present their list of goods to the clerk in a store and the clerk would go around and fill the order, but it was Piggly Wiggly that allowed the shoppers to fill theirown order and that practice has stuck, as we all know. They are still in business and have 530 locations across 17 states.
Fox Liquor bar is part of the restaurant group owned by chef Ashley Christiansen and it’s definitely a place I hope to get to soon. I was supposed to go to North Carolina this summer, but it seems that those plans have been dashed for the time being, so when this is all over, Marius and I definitely plan to visit and shoot some episodes. Alrighty, enjoy the drink and I’ll see ya on another time!
