This Tiki Style drink from bartender Garrett Richard features Underberg German bitters and Reposado Tequila resulting in something both satisfying and surprising.
Bartender Garrett Richard developed this drink while working under Damian Bolte at Prime Meats in New York City. His idea was to incorporate bitters as a main flavor profile in a Tiki style drink. Richard admits that his style bends toward the tropical when it comes to cocktails and that keeping the tiki spirit while adding that much bitters seemed like an impossible task. The result was this wonderful drink that really pairs the tequila with the spice elements in the Underberg resulting in a drink which is surprisingly tropical without using any of the usual suspects in a tiki style drink such as pineapple and passion fruit. In actuality the recipe reads like a classic drink presented as tiki, but the flavor is tropical in it’s own quirky way. Whatever this drink actually is, it is ridiculously delicious! Go Get it!
