A mash up of a Mint Julep and a Sherry Cobbler??? Sign me up!
I Am…I Said was created by Morgan Schick of Trick Dog in San Francisco and is one of my absolute favorites for the season. His Cocktail is a brilliant mashup of a Mint Julep and A Sherry cobbler which drips of history. It’s hard to explain but what he’s doing with this cocktail is taking two drinks and putting them together but also tipping his hat to the “improved”cocktails of the day which made use of such ingredients as gum syrup and curaçao. It’s pretty brilliant and really only the type of genius a true cocktail nerd could appreciate. Lucky for the rest of you it’s a damned fine drink that all of you will love. The other notable feature of this one is Schick’s use of menthol tinctures which he makes by dissolving menthol crystals in Everclear (yes you can use 100 proof vodka).
The Menthol is obtained by extracting oil from mint and subjecting it to a temperature of -22C with the aid of a freezing mixture. The oil then solidifies into crystals. They are 100% organic and dissolve readily in alcohol or essential oils. Anyway, hope you guys make and love the drink! enjoy!
