The annual release of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout collection is something that beer enthusiasts look forward to every year. The brand’s innovative barrel-aging program has produced a plethora of complex, delicious, and unique beers over the past 30 years and 2023 should handily continue that tradition. Here’s what’s in store for this year’s drop:
- 2023 Bourbon County Brand Original Stout
- 2023 Bourbon County Brand Eagle Rare 2-Year Reserve Stout
- 2023 Bourbon County Brand Angel’s Envy 2-Year Cask Finish Stout
- 2023 Bourbon County Brand Bananas Foster Stout
- 2023 Bourbon County Brand Backyard Stout
- 2023 Bourbon County Brand Proprietor’s Stout
They sound pretty delicious right? Here’s what Daryl Hoedtke, Senior Brewmaster at Goose Island Beer Co. had to say about this year’s drop.
“We at Goose Island are proud to be the originators of the style and continue to pour our heart and soul into curating the Bourbon County Brand Family. Along with the Bourbon County Brand Original Stout, we always strive to refine our craft and develop ever more unique and interesting takes on Bourbon County. This year, we are excited to employ some techniques from our friends in the bourbon world, including partnering with Angel’s Envy to introduce a cask-finished variant of Bourbon County.
While we are always innovating and looking to create new styles, sometimes it’s helpful to reflect on where you came from. This year, we get to do that with several of our variants, including 2023 Bourbon County Brand Backyard Stout. For me, Backyard Stout was something I worked on in my first year with Goose Island, and bringing that beer back fills me with warm memories of learning the craft of barrel aging. It’s also an amazing beer, and we can’t wait to be able to share that with a wider audience this year.”
More details like release date, ABV, and pricing will be coming within the next few months.
