Ben Slaby‘s home bar is tropical horror themed where all of his originals are named after some of his favorite horror movies. Gill-man’s Grog was named based on the rum it features: cachaca, given that The Creature from the Black Lagoon takes place in the Amazon. The inspiration came from wanting to play on a grapefruit Aperol spritz and the final product comes out nothing like one! Instead, it’s a very bright, almost orange creamsicle flavored refresher with just the right hint of bitterness. The wonderful grassy notes of the cachaca provides a nice earthy backbone to an otherwise sweet cocktail. Cheers!
