A Bright and herbaceous swizzle variant from legendary barman Sam Ross.
The Freight Train Swizzle was created by Sam Ross back in 2017. Sam Ross is an alum of Legendary Sasha Petraske bar Milk & Honey and has gone on to open many amazing bars in his own right, including Attaboy NYC, Attaboy Nasheville and Diamond Reef in NYC.
I know what most of you are going to say….”hey! you didn’t swizzle the swizzle!” and that’s true, Ross’ directions for this drink call for a dry shake and top off with pebble ice, and that’s what I did. And “swizzle” is often used as shorthand for a rum drink served long featuring rum, lime and crushed ice. Either way, you will enjoy this drink, I guarantee it!
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Rum Appleton 12yr
- .75 oz Velvet Falrnum
- .75 oz Green Chartreuse
- .75 oz Lime Juice
Garnish
Instructions
- Add main ingredients to Tin
- Add shaking ice
- Shake 8-10 seconds
- Strain into glass
- Fill with Crushed ice with snow cap
- Top with Angostura Bitters
- Garnish with fresh Mint Sprig
