El Fiero

Created By the great Aaron Ayala of the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles!

I know what all of you are going to say. You’re going to look at the ingredients list and say this drink is too sweet. It has no bittering element to tame the other ingredients and while I would normally say you were right, I took one sip of this drink when I tested it and to my surprise the cocktail worked, against all odds it worked beautifully. This drink bends to the sweet. It’s ingredients puts it firmly in the realm of the nightcap, and that’s fine. In the video I say that Ayala was influenced by a Girl Scout Cookie drink I made last year and while that’s true, it’s real inspiration was the Grasshopper as it’s specs betray. The other notable thing that I love about this drink is that it’s appearance plays against your expectation. You go in expecting this thing to taste like a martini (on the appearance) but what you get is a face full of winter. This drink is a little polarizing but I implore you to try it! It is definitely worthy of your consideration!
