Celebrate October with this Fall flavored cocktail featuring Jägermeister!
It’s getting to be that time of year again folks, and a lot of you have been asking when we’ll be transitioning to fall cocktails and the answer to that is…we already have. Even though we have a great Halloween episode for you I’m going to pepper in some extras throughout the month and there’s no better way to start than the aptly named Death Flip!
The Death Flip was created by bartender Chris Hysted for the bar Black Pearl in Melbourne Australia. The fact that this drink, a flip, became a modern classic is really saying something given that a lot of people give any drink containing uncooked egg the side eye. Writer Robert Simonson credits the very provocative name and the fact that no ingredients were listed on the original menu to it’s popularity. That may be true, but having no ingredients listed on a menu and a provocative name doesn’t usually make cocktails world famous, I want to attribute the use of Jägermeister in a classic style craft cocktail and it’s reputation as strong possible reason for this drink’s explosion in popularity. That and it’s fantastically good! Enjoy you guys!
Note On this Cocktail: For the sake of full disclosure the original garnish is fresh grated Nutmeg. I left it off in this video, but it would be pleasant so add it if you wish. It doesn’t really need it but it would make it a bit more festive in it’s flavor profile.
