Our dear reader, Chris Slauter from Phoenix, Arizona, USA, wanted to create a tiki cocktail with flavors and ingredients native/common to Arizona to show that they can do better than just margarita and Paloma riffs, and this is what he came up with. Pistachios are the most prominent but grown in AZ, so he had to develop a recipe that utilized an orgeat made of pistachios Pistachio Orgeat Recipe – he used the BarTalk&Cocktails pistachio orgeat recipe on YouTube.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz Reposado Tequila
- 1/2 oz Chile Liqueur Ancho Reyes Chile Ancho
- 3/4 oz Grapefruit Juice
- 1/4 oz Lime Juice
- 1/2 oz Pistachio Orgeat
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
- 1 pinch Sea Salt Malden smoked
Garnish
Instructions
- Add ingredients to a shaker.
- Whip shake.
- Strain into a Dio de Los Muertos skull mug (if you have one).
- Add pebble ice.
- Garnish.
- Enjoy!
