I wanted to use some lavender simple syrup I hadn’t opened yet. When I smelled it, made me think it might go well with chartreuse somehow. And then I thought, you know, this might also go well with mastika, which I had recently discovered at an amazing Greek restaurant. Anyway, one though leads to another, and I ended up experimenting. I added some gin and lime juice to the mix. I don’t have a name yet, and I think that the back end tartness is a little much, so if you have a suggestion for lessening that sharpness, feel free to adjust. You know, and also fill me in. The back end tartness doesn’t match well with the initial relaxing smell and taste up front. I chose the New Am Stratosphere because it is a lighter, more citrus forward gin, but I am going to experiment with others down the road. Also, I tried to add pictures of each bottle I used for easy reference, but it seems to only allow one picture. Appears to replace each time you add a new one vs collecting a group of them.
