Monte Cassino

Monte Cassino

Created in 2010 by a New York City bartender named Damon Dyer. The drink pays homage to Benedictine, the production of which, like Chartreuse is connected to Monks. In this case the Benedictine order which it is said was founded in Monte Cassino.

In this version, Benedictine takes the place of Masachino making for a very complex botanical flavor profile and the idea is to temper the sugar with not only the citrus but some rye whiskey spice. I haven’t given this one a go yet, so let’s give it a try!
