A banana-forward Rum Bomb and Zombie variation that kills!
This is the Banana Farmer from our viewer Chase Hoffman in Denver Colorado. Here’s what he has to say about his cocktail:
This is the Banana Farmer, an original cocktail I created about a year ago as an homage to Donn Beach and my favorite rum, Smith & Cross. Smith & Cross is a navy strength Jamaican rum with an intense “hogo” as well as notes of ripe banana and tropical fruit. The template for this drink follows Donn Beach’s Planter’s Punch and Zombie, especially with an overproof rum being the focus. The other key ingredient is Giffard Crème de Banane, which has an obvious strong ripe banana flavor, but with underlying note of burnt sugar like a crème brûlée. These key ingredients are complimented by lime and pineapple juice, Velvet Falernum, and Angostura bitters. The result is a tiki cocktail that is playfully tropical while having a serious kick from the overproof Jamaican rum.

This drink is awesome! A great zombie riff
Looks like a tasty variation of a Planet of The Apes
Recipe:
1oz dark Jamaican rum (I used Coruba)
.5oz Stolen Overproof Jamaican Rum (Plantation OFTD or a 151 rum would sub nicely)
1oz unsweetened pineapple juice
1oz fresh orange juice
.75oz Giffard Banane du Bresil liqueur
.5oz lime juice
Just tried both of these recipes. Planet of the Apes is very strange tasting, almost like two ingredients aren’t mending together appropriately. The Banana Farmer on the other hand is well balanced and very, very good.
dope
so good
I messed with a bit… didn’t have correct rum so used 2/3oz of each: Wray & Nephew, Plantation Dark, Havana Club 3. Then homemade falernum instead of Velvet & double the pineapple because I like pineapple. Very recommended for return to monke
Now I have acquired bottle of Smith + Cross, cocktail is even better with full shot of this + 1 of Havana Club – same tier as Mai Tai / Jungle Bird
I switched the Plantation 3 Star with a good coconut infused white rum – delicious!
