Up until the early 1600s, Scotland’s new year was March 25 but was moved to January 1 where they started to celebrate a two-day celebration called Hogmanay. Christmas may be a low-key celebration in Scotland but that does not stop them from drinking a glass (or two) of Auld Man’s Milk.
Instructions
- Beat yolks and whites separately.
- Add the sugar to the egg yolks, whisk in the milk, then add the alcohol.
- Gently mix in the whipped whites.
- Grate nutmeg and serve in small glasses.
- Ensure that the drink is kept cold.
